some of my visitors may be familiar with the web site known as the oto phenomenon. this is the most definitive site on the history and writings of radical occultism online. it also appears to have a very negative slant about the subjects contained therein. liber III is the most direct of crowleys writings on the thelemic path:
"2. On each occasion that thou art betrayed into saying that thou art sworn to avoid, cut thyself sharply upon the writs or forearm with a razor; even as thou shouldst beat a disobedient dog. Feareth not the Unicorn the claws and teeth of the Lion?
3. Thine arm then serveth thee both for a warning and for a record. Thou shalt write down thy daily progress in these practices, until thou art perfectly vigilant at all times over the least word that slippeth from thy tongue.
Thus bind thyself, and thou shalt be for ever free."
the physical is also figurative: thelemic inspired texts have no problem with the sysmbolism of violence as it stands to acquire "True Will."
which brings us back to peter r. koenig. his extremely detailed insider account of the OTO and related magical orders is at once enlightening and shocking. if i didn't know better, i would think that peter koenig has an axe to grind. i would think this gentleman has taken off the gloves about some matter or other.
i knew a thelemite that liked to say that thelema was sharp as a razor blade: if you miss your head, you'll cut off your arm. (hopefully, figuretivly speaking, you poor serious souls!)
